Adobe adds collaborative whiteboarding and design tokens to XD cloud

XD Cloud now offers synchronous whiteboarding where designers and stakeholders can sketch flows, drop components, and generate annotated tickets. Sessions are tied to project files so ideas translate directly into prototypes and component libraries.

A shared design tokens service publishes tokens for colors, spacing, and typography; when a token updates, linked prototypes and developer handoffs receive a delta patch showing the affected components. This aims to keep production apps aligned with the design system as changes occur.

The tokens service includes versioning and migration aids that show potential visual impact and provide automatic CSS/JSON exports for engineering. Adobe positioned this as a response to frequent token mismatch complaints in cross-functional teams.
