Adobe Firefly 2026 Adds Vector Editing AI and Tokenized Design Assets
Design · 5 min read
Adobe unveiled a Firefly update that brings vector-native generative capabilities directly into Illustrator and Photoshop. Instead of rasterizing AI outputs, Firefly now produces editable vector paths and grouped component layers, preserving editability and allowing designers to refine generated shapes at the anchor-point level.
A key addition is Adobe Tokens, a tokenized asset format that packages color systems, component geometry, and interaction metadata so generated elements can be reused and adapted across files. Tokens can be shared via Creative Cloud libraries and consumed by development pipelines as design tokens for CSS and mobile platforms.
Adobe emphasized governance and provenance tools: generated content retains metadata about prompt history and model version, and admins can enforce content policies or revert generations. The update is available to Creative Cloud subscribers starting this week, with extended enterprise controls slated for later this year.
