Adobe Firefly 2.5 introduces reference-aware image generation and video backgrounds

Reference-aware generation lets users upload an exemplar image and instruct Firefly to produce variations that match lighting, texture or composition. Adobe positioned this as a way to maintain brand consistency while using generative content in commercial projects.

For motion, Firefly’s new video backgrounds can generate short, tileable loops optimized for banner ads, social headers and presentation backdrops. Export presets include alpha channels and codecs compatible with Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Adobe also added studio controls for rights and provenance metadata so teams can embed source attributions and usage restrictions into generated assets. The company emphasized enterprise licensing options and creative guardrails to help legal and brand teams maintain control.
