Adobe Firefly's 'Gestalt' update adds hierarchical layout editing and token-aware suggestions
Design · 5 min read
Gestalt is presented as a layout-first model that understands component nesting, flow, and responsive behavior rather than treating UIs as flat images. Adobe says Gestalt can generate a tree of components from an initial sketch and suggest property sets aligned to shared design tokens.
The model plugs into Adobe XD and the Creative Cloud Libraries to surface suggestions that respect brand colors, typography, and spacing tokens. Designers can accept whole subtrees, edit properties inline, or ask Gestalt to refactor for accessibility, such as increasing contrast or recommending alt text.
Adobe is also exposing Gestalt through a new Design API aimed at enterprise customers, enabling programmatic layout generation for email templates, dashboards, and microsites. Pricing follows Firefly's existing tiers, with limited free trials for Creative Cloud subscribers.
