Adobe launches Creative Cloud Plugins Platform v3 with realtime APIs and billing

Platform v3 exposes a realtime canvas layer that plugins can read and write to with lower latency, enabling features like collaborative markup, live AI-assisted edits, and streaming previews. Plugins can now register background workers that process assets asynchronously while maintaining UI responsiveness.

In-plugin billing allows marketplace publishers to offer subscriptions or metered compute directly through Adobe’s billing flow. Enterprise admins can whitelist plugin vendors, enforce security policies, and audit plugin activity across organization accounts.

Adobe also provided migration guides and upgraded SDKs with TypeScript definitions, a local dev server, and an observability dashboard to inspect plugin API calls and performance. The company said the new platform will unlock richer integrations between Adobe apps and cloud AI services.
