Adobe launches Generative Accessibility Assistant for design systems

Adobe's new Accessibility Assistant leverages generative models to scan component libraries and produce context-aware alt text, aria label suggestions, and copy alternatives tuned for screen readers. Rather than offering one-off fixes, the assistant outputs recommended design tokens (color roles, semantic spacing, motion flags) so teams can bake accessibility into their design system foundations.

The feature integrates directly into Adobe XD and Figma plugins, letting designers preview suggested changes and apply tokens across instances. It also produces a changelog of accessibility edits so product managers and accessibility specialists can audit model decisions and adjust guardrails.

Early testers reported faster handoffs and fewer accessibility regressions during sprint cycles, but also flagged that generative suggestions occasionally missed cultural or domain-specific nuances.
