Adobe releases Photoshop 2026 with on-device generative models and provenance stamps
Design · 5 min read
Adobe updated Photoshop to include optimized on-device generative models for tasks like background removal, style transfer, and content-aware fill, reducing roundtrip latency and preserving privacy for users working offline.
A new provenance stamp system embeds metadata indicating whether pixels were generated, which model produced them, and a confidence score. These stamps are readable by Adobe’s verification tools and exportable to web-friendly formats to aid transparency.
Adobe also extended its UXP plugin API to ease integration with third-party model providers while enforcing a manifest that lists model characteristics and data usage policies. The move is designed to balance extensibility with user protection.
