Adobe updates Firefly with design token-aware image generation
Design · 4 min read
The enhanced Firefly interface exposes design tokens that can be pinned to prompts so generated imagery follows established brand rules. Designers may now ask for "hero image consistent with brand primary palette and 8px grid" and receive outputs aligned with those constraints.
Adobe also built a tokens API so Creative Cloud libraries sync with image-generation sessions. The system supports visual checks for color contrast and auto-mapping of design language to Adobe XD and Photoshop layers for quicker handoff.
While the tool improves brand-consistent creative generation, some artists expressed worry about creative constraints reducing serendipity. Adobe responded by adding a "creative looseness" slider to balance token adherence with stylistic exploration.
