Adobe XD 2026.2 adds generative layout layers and token-aware export
Design · 5 min read
Generative layout layers allow designers to generate alternative page layouts while preserving component constraints and tokens. Designers can prompt the tool to “generate three hero variations emphasizing the product tagline,” and XD will output variations that maintain spacing systems and accessible contrasts. Adobe says the feature ties directly into Creative Cloud Libraries for token synchronization.
Token-aware export produces code artifacts (CSS, SwiftUI, Compose) that reference design tokens rather than hard-coded values. The export includes a manifest and a mapping layer that front-end engineers can use to align runtime themes with design specifications.
Adobe notes that the model powering generative layers runs in the Adobe Cloud with enterprise DLP options and a local inference mode for enterprise customers. Designers welcomed the speed improvements but recommended clearer audit trails for generated variants to support design reviews.
