Adobe XD adds Motion Lab with physics-driven prototyping and tactile feedback simulation

Motion Lab introduces a small physics engine into prototyping workflows so designers can tune parameters like mass, damping, and restitution for interactive elements. Prototypes can simulate realistic bounces, inertia, and grouped motion, which is especially useful for mobile gestures and draggable components.

The tool also includes a haptics composer that maps motion events to vibration patterns for supported devices, helping designers test the feel of microinteractions in context. Outputted prototypes can be shared with stakeholders for embedded device previews and developer handoff.

Motion designers welcomed the ability to prototype tactile-rich interactions without building native prototypes. Some teams noted device variability in haptics and recommended device-specific testing before shipping production behavior.
