Adobe XD Canvas 2.0 brings AI-assisted prototyping and live token sync
Design ยท 5 min read
XD Canvas 2.0 integrates a multimodal model that can generate high-fidelity interactions from text descriptions and hand-drawn sketches. Designers can sketch an interaction and ask the tool to produce a working prototype with transitions, auto-layout constraints, and device-specific behavior, which can be exported as interactive code snippets.
A major addition is live design token sync: variables for colors, typography, and spacing are pushed from XD into linked repositories and codebases, with change validation powered by a rule engine to prevent breaking theming. The system supports semantic tokens and can suggest token names from an organization's design language.
Adobe positions this release as part of a broader strategy to make XD the single source of truth for product teams. The company will offer enterprise controls for token governance and audit trails, and preview plug-ins for automatic accessibility checks during prototyping.
