Adobe XD Introduces Live Layout Engine with AI Auto-Constraints

Adobe XD's Live Layout Engine leverages a new constraint inference model to automatically propose responsive behaviors for existing designs. When designers switch from desktop to mobile artboards, the engine suggests alignment, anchoring, and reflow rules based on component semantics.

The system also offers auto-generated spacing scales and token suggestions to harmonize layouts across pages. Designers can accept, tweak, or override proposed constraints, and the engine learns from edits to refine future recommendations within a project.

Adobe highlighted integration with design systems: accepted constraints can be exported as code-ready layout tokens for web and mobile, reducing translation work between designers and engineers. The Live Layout Engine is available to Creative Cloud subscribers as part of the latest XD update.
