Adobe XD introduces 'Motion Lab' powered by generative keyframe suggestions
Design · 3 min read
Motion Lab analyzes component state changes and suggests motion timelines with easing, duration, and motion arcs that match the product’s interaction vocabulary. Designers can accept, modify, or replace suggested keyframes with a single click.
The feature also offers a style-preserving mode that adapts suggested motion to existing brand motion tokens, helping teams keep micro-interactions consistent across platforms. Exports include precise easing curves and platform-friendly timing for CSS or native code.
Adobe said Motion Lab reduces the friction between designing motion and handing off to developers or motion designers, cutting the need to manually map micro-interaction intent to concrete keyframes. Integration with After Effects simplifies complex animations for marketing assets.
Motion designers welcomed the faster prototyping but cautioned about relying solely on automated curves for nuanced, narrative-driven motion. Adobe responded by adding expert-mode presets for motion designers seeking deeper control.
