Adobe XD reimagined as cloud-native collaborative canvas with model SDK
Design · 5 min read
The new XD shifts from file-centric to session-centric collaboration, where multiple contributors can call embedded models to generate assets, suggest interactions, or refactor components in real time. Adobe also released an SDK that allows vendors to plug in text, image, or motion models that run within the session with permissioned access.
Built-in models include layout suggestion, copy generation, and motion riffing, while third-party models can be sandboxed with workspace controls. Designers can pin model outputs to the version history and roll back or fork sessions, maintaining clear provenance for generated content.
Adobe is positioning the cloud-native XD for distributed teams that require synchronous design and faster iteration cycles. The company also stressed enterprise features like team-level model whitelists, audit trails, and export controls to help security leaders adopt in collaborative settings.
