Adobe XD repositions as a collaborative design lab with live model endpoints
Design · 5 min read
The new XD introduces ‘Model Workspaces’ where teams can attach one or more model endpoints to an artboard and toggle outputs in real time. Designers can run side-by-side comparisons of different models or model versions and store iteration histories as experiments.
XD's Model Workspaces include governance features: endpoint whitelisting, cost caps, and an experiment approval flow so product teams can control which models are used in production-facing designs. The platform also logs provenance and model metadata for design ops and legal review.
Adobe argues the shift aligns with modern product design where multiple models inform decisions, from copy generation to layout proposals. By turning XD into a controlled playground for model experimentation, Adobe hopes to keep teams inside a single collaborative environment rather than scattered across plug-ins and external tools.
