Adobe XD revamp introduces token-based prototyping and AI-driven motion presets

The updated Adobe XD prioritizes tokens—color, spacing, typography, motion—tied to a central system that propagates changes through prototypes and code exports. Designers can now lock tokens to product branches and preview variations simultaneously, which reduces manual updates when design systems evolve.

Complementing tokens are AI-driven motion presets. XD analyzes component semantics and brand tokens to suggest entrance/exit behaviors, timing curves, and micro-interactions that fit a brand's personality (e.g., 'confident', 'playful', 'clinical'). Presets are editable and can be exported as CSS, Lottie, or platform-specific animation libraries.

Adobe highlights improved developer handoff with richer JSON exports carrying token maps and animation metadata. The company says this reduces ambiguity and speeds implementation by producing code-ready specs and isolating token-driven changes from manual component overrides.
