Adobe XD Revives Lightweight Vector Tools with AI-Powered Cleanup

Adobe XD's update introduces Smart Cleanup, a tool that analyzes raster UI screenshots and proposes vectorized components, suggested layer hierarchies, and a cleaned-up style guide. The underlying model prioritizes fidelity of layout and typographic hierarchy rather than pixel-perfect tracing.

Users can accept or tweak suggested components; the tool also suggests color and spacing tokens that map into XD's design system panel. Adobe emphasized that models run in a privacy-first mode with optional local inference on Creative Cloud Desktop to avoid uploading sensitive screenshots by default.

Designers testing the feature reported that Smart Cleanup is especially helpful for rapid scan-and-reuse workflows when migrating legacy products. However, complex custom widgets still require hands-on rework, and Adobe plans to add more domain-specific training to reduce these cases.
