Aether Engine debuts crossplay physics middleware, closes $24M

Aether Engine announced a $24 million Series A and the release of AetherPhysics, a deterministic physics middleware that synchronizes physics outcomes across diverse runtimes. The middleware integrates with Unity, Unreal Engine, and several custom engines and provides tools for rollback, sync reconciliation, and replicated state compression.
AetherPhysics uses a hybrid design that combines fixed-step deterministic solvers with compact state snapshots to reconcile client divergence in competitive and cooperative multiplayer scenarios. The SDK also includes profiling tools to surface sources of nondeterminism introduced by third-party plugins and platform-dependent float behavior.
The funding will expand support for additional platforms and provide certified performance profiles for console manufacturers. Game studios in early access reported fewer desyncs and simpler netcode due to the offloading of physics determinism concerns to the middleware.
Technical directors noted the improvement in QA cycles because reproduction of physics-related bugs across platforms became more reliable. Aether Engine plans enterprise licensing and managed integration services for studios transitioning legacy physics stacks.
