Anthropic launches Helios-1: safety-first multimodal model with design affordances

Anthropic's Helios-1 focuses on deterministic, explainable outputs for creative and design workflows. The model is multimodal and offers a dedicated affordance layer that emits structured suggestions like motion curves, layer hierarchies and accessibility warnings alongside freeform text and images.

Helios-1 emphasizes controllability: designers can lock parts of a layout and request variations only for unlocked regions, or set style constraints like typography scales and motion duration ranges. Anthropic positions the model for integration in enterprise design systems where predictability and audit trails are important.

The company released an SDK with example integrations for Framer, Adobe, and enterprise Figma instances. Helios-1 is offered under a tiered license with stronger usage controls and audit logging for regulated industries.
