Anthropic unveils Claude Code — a developer-focused coding model with live pair-programming

Anthropic today introduced Claude Code, a variant of its Claude family optimized for real-time developer collaboration. The product combines low-latency completion, automatic dependency inference, and a new ‘explain and refactor’ mode that surfaces intent-aware suggestions during pair-programming sessions.

Alongside the product launch, Anthropic disclosed a $300 million extension to its Series D from a mix of existing backers and several large enterprise customers. The funding will be allocated toward scaling dedicated inference clusters, expanding compliance tooling, and building integrations with major IDEs and CICD pipelines.

Early enterprise customers report faster code reviews and fewer security regressions thanks to Claude Code’s context retention and integrated secret-scanning. Anthropic emphasized on-stage that the model is tuned with restrictive guardrails and an enterprise console for governance and audit logs.
