Aperture Labs debuts 'TypefaceNet' for AI-assisted font pairing and kerning

TypefaceNet analyzes typographic context—font metrics, UI scale, color contrast, and language—and proposes pairings that respect hierarchy and legibility. It can also suggest kerning tweaks and variable font axes adjustments to improve perceived rhythm at small sizes.

The model integrates with design tools via a plugin that provides live preview overlays and exportable CSS variables for web projects. Teams can lock language-specific rules and brand-prescribed typefaces, letting TypefaceNet propose complementary options within constraints.

Aperture Labs says TypefaceNet reduces the time spent in micro-adjustments and is especially helpful for internationalized interfaces where typographic norms differ considerably. Designers appreciated the model's transparency mode, which explains why specific pairings were recommended.
