Apple adds on-device 'SketchMind' model to macOS Designer beta

SketchMind runs using Apple Neural Engine optimizations and can suggest typographic scales, spacing updates, and layout variants without sending assets to the cloud. It integrates with macOS Designer's native components and uses an offline style-transference approach to apply system aesthetics while honoring user tokens.

Apple stresses privacy and local inference, positioning SketchMind as a tool for designers working with sensitive IP. The beta includes a user consent flow and controls to disable any telemetry. Performance testers found the assistant responsive on recent Apple Silicon machines with negligible battery impact.

Some designers requested plug-ins and cross-device sync for workflows that include remote collaborators. Apple said sync features are under consideration and will honor users' privacy selections if enabled.
