Apple Arcade update adds cross-platform cloud saves and new developer telemetry tools

Apple updated the Arcade SDK to include cross-device cloud saves that sync player progression, inventory, and ephemeral world state. The feature uses end-to-end encryption tied to a player's Apple ID and supports lightweight conflict resolution policies that developers can customize.

The update also adds a session handoff API that lets players move mid-session from one device to another, preserving input state and rendering continuity where possible. Complementing that, Apple published new telemetry endpoints in the developer portal that surface input latency, frame pacing, network jitter, and controller connection stability.

Studios welcomed the toolset, noting it removes friction for building shared experiences across device classes. However, some developers warned the telemetry granularity requires careful data handling to avoid storing PII, and Apple reiterated privacy-first defaults.
