Apple overhauls App Store Review API and introduces live testing channels

The new App Store Review API gives developers finer-grained status updates, clearer rejection reasons with direct code references, and a machine-assisted categorization step to reduce ambiguous rejections. Apple said the changes are intended to reduce back-and-forth and make policy guidance more actionable during app submission.

Live testing channels let teams open temporary feature channels that are discoverable only via short-lived links and can be instrumented with telemetry collection for up to 30 days. The feature is targeted at enterprise, beta programs and staggered feature rollouts where developers need real-world signal before a full release.

Apple also introduced an appeals dashboard and added performance-based prioritization for critical fixes, promising faster review times for bugfix builds. The company emphasized that safety and privacy review criteria remain intact, but that the API improvements give developers clearer remediation paths.
