Arcane Interactive raises $35M to launch Ember Engine, a lightweight AAA toolkit for indie studios

Arcane Interactive announced a $35 million funding round and the launch of Ember Engine, a lightweight but high-fidelity toolkit aimed at indie studios and small teams wanting AAA-level visuals without large overhead. Ember comes with modular rendering pipelines, automated LOD generation, and art-pipeline tools that integrate with common DCC applications.

The engine is intended to be extensible and includes licensing options friendly to small teams, including revenue-sharing and flat-fee tiers. Arcane’s founders say Ember is optimized to reduce iteration time and includes retrofittable backends for console-targeted builds.

Investment will speed up feature development and the company plans to offer cloud-based build farms and a library of optimized assets for rapid prototyping. Several launch partners plan to ship Ember-built titles in early 2027.
