Aurora Games launches Skyforge Tactics with AI Director, raises $25M Series A

Aurora Games debuted Skyforge Tactics today, a turn-based tactics game that integrates an AI Director to dynamically shape enemy behavior, mission objectives, and story pacing based on player actions. The feature aims to reduce repetitive loop fatigue by personalizing encounters and pacing across campaigns and co-op matches.

To support the launch and ongoing live operations, Aurora announced a $25 million Series A led by Catalyst Gaming with participation from a group of angels from major studios. The funds will expand the art and live-ops team, and support server infrastructure for the game's cross-play matchmaking.

Design teams will be watching how the AI Director is surfaced to players and creators: Aurora released a Creator Mode that lets map designers tune director parameters and script high-level narrative arcs without writing code. Early post-launch telemetry suggests increases in session length for players matched with the adaptive director.
