Aurora Rack Unveils Modular Micro-Cloud Appliances, Raises $45M Series B

Aurora Rack’s new appliances package GPU-accelerated servers in a modular chassis that can be deployed in closets or studio backrooms to run generative AI and 3D rendering workloads. The product supports hot-swappable compute modules, tiered storage, and a SaaS-based orchestration layer that mirrors cloud workflows locally.

The $45 million Series B was led by Pacific Ridge Capital with participation from Vertex Labs and a strategic investment from a large creative agency group. Aurora Rack says the capital will be used to scale manufacturing, certify partnerships with leading GPU vendors, and expand its cloud orchestration software.

Design studios using the early hardware reported dramatic improvements in iteration speed for high-resolution exports and collaborative VR sessions, reducing dependency on centralized cloud instances. Aurora Rack positions the appliances as a hybrid option for teams that need fast local turnaround, stringent privacy, or offline-capable deployments.
