Aurora Sound raises $18M to commercialize AI-driven adaptive audio for games and apps

Aurora Sound's engine generates instrumentation and transitions that adapt to tempo, player actions, and emotional arcs, allowing smaller studios to recreate the orchestration depth of AAA titles. The $18 million round led by Lakeside Ventures will fund authoring tools that let audio designers sculpt adaptive cues using familiar DAW-like controls.

The company is shipping middleware plugins for Unity and Unreal, plus a runtime optimized for consoles and mobile. Aurora emphasizes human-in-the-loop compositional editing: generated stems are editable by composers who can lock thematic motifs while the engine fills transitions dynamically.

Aurora Sound plans to offer licensing tiers for indie and enterprise customers and is partnering with middleware integrators to deliver low-latency audio transforms. The company says adaptive audio improves player retention and perceived polish in live games.
