AuroraXR today announced a $50 million Series C to bring a second-generation lightweight AR headset to market later this year. The glasses prioritize long battery life, robust safety compliance for industrial environments, and an edge-AI stack capable of on-device object recognition and worker assistance without constant cloud connectivity.
The company claims the new hardware reduces weight by 35% compared to its previous prototype and adds features like replaceable battery modules, a hardened IP54 shell, and a companion phone-based edge node that offloads heavy analytics while minimizing latency. AuroraXR targets logistics, utilities, and manufacturing customers that need reliable AR assistance in noisy, offline-prone settings.
Investors highlighted the post-pandemic enterprise demand for hands-free AR that integrates with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. AuroraXR plans pilot programs with shipping and utilities partners and will open a developer SDK with strict privacy and safety guidelines for industrial applications.
