Autodesk introduces Generative Layouts for industrial UI panels using physics-aware constraints
Design · 6 min read
Generative Layouts considers reachability, button adjacency, label legibility under glare, and emergency stop prominence when generating interface proposals. The model integrates ergonomic heuristics and hardware mounting constraints, so suggested layouts are viable for real-world manufacturing.
Designers can input hardware footprints and environmental parameters, and the system produces several ranked layouts that meet regulatory thresholds and user task flows. Outputs include detailed CAD overlays and accessibility annotations for operator training.
Industrial customers reported that Generative Layouts accelerated early-stage mockups and reduced the number of costly physical prototypes. Autodesk emphasizes the feature’s configurability to meet different safety standards across industries.
