Blender adds AI-assisted retopology and UI panel for game-ready asset generation

The retopology feature leverages neural networks to predict edge flows and generate optimized meshes suitable for real-time engines. Artists can control polygon budgets, UV layout constraints, and smoothing groups. The process outputs LODs and bake-ready normal maps to streamline asset pipelines.
A new AI panel centralizes model generation, texture synthesis, and scene-assembly tools. It provides presets for mobile, desktop, and console targets and includes export profiles tuned for Unity and Unreal. Blender emphasized that all generation can run locally, with optional cloud acceleration for very large scenes.
Game developers appreciated the speed-ups in iteration but stressed the importance of manual retouching for critical assets. Blender's team plans to add training hooks so studios can fine-tune AI retopology models on their own assets for improved studio-specific fidelity.
