Blender Foundation announces BlendGen: a generative asset model tailored for 3D artists

BlendGen integrates into Blender as an addon that can output modular assets—furniture, foliage, and small props—with clean topology and UVs ready for texturing. The generator produces editable geometry and offers retopology and LOD pumps to suit production pipelines.

Artists can seed generation with hand-sculpted forms or reference photos and request variations. BlendGen focuses on artist control: everything is generated as native Blender data-blocks, not flattened imports, so modifiers and constraints remain available for tweaks.

The Blender Foundation emphasized open licensing for the model and released training recipes so studios can fine-tune BlendGen on proprietary asset libraries. The community response has been positive, with many praising the balance between automation and editability.
