Blender integrates DreamMesh for text-to-3D topology-aware modeling
Design · 5 min read
DreamMesh is a Blender add-on that generates meshes from text prompts while providing topology-aware constraints and editable control handles. Artists can nudge vertex flows, retopologize with a single click, and export UVs tuned for texture painting, aiming to reduce the cleanup burden that typically follows generative 3D outputs.
The add-on supports progressive refinement: designers can start with a quick sketch or prompt, accept a base mesh, and then invoke shape priors to refine silhouette and edge loops. DreamMesh's pipeline ties into Blender's modifiers and sculpting tools so generated assets can be immediately iterated.
Blender Foundation stressed that DreamMesh is intended as an augmentation tool rather than a replacement for modeling expertise. The plugin will be available through Blender's add-on repository with a freemium model for higher-resolution outputs and commercial licenses.
