Boreal Labs closes $120M Series B for compact quantum sensors

Boreal Labs, which develops miniaturized quantum sensors that promise higher sensitivity than classical alternatives, announced a $120 million Series B led by Arcadia Growth with participation from Blue Ridge Partners and strategic customers. The company will use proceeds to build a pilot manufacturing line and certify devices for field use.

The newly revealed product, the Boreal Q-IMU, combines cold-atom magnetometry with inertial sensing in a package the size of a paperback book. Boreal claims the device reduces drift and improves detection of subtle anomalies in subsurface surveys and drone-borne inspections.

Boreal is positioning the Q-IMU at markets where traditional MEMS sensors hit limits: long-endurance drones, subsea inspection, and precision navigation in GPS-denied environments. Commercial shipments to pilot customers begin in Q2 2027, with broader availability promised as manufacturing ramps.
