Canva Adds 'Vector Intelligence' — Editable SVG Generation and Smart Constraints

The feature generates vector markup with named groups, semantic IDs, and parameterized properties so designers can edit paths and styles after generation. Canva claims the system avoids brittle single-path exports and instead builds compositions from canonical geometric primitives and boolean operations.

Smart constraints are applied automatically to ensure icons and illustrations maintain legibility across sizes: stroke widths are adjusted, spacing is preserved, and collapsible groups are introduced for complex shapes. Canva also allows exporting design tokens directly from vector assets for token-driven theming.

Canva positions the update as a way to reduce rework for teams that rely on scalable brand assets across platforms. The company says advanced vector export will be part of its Pro offering with expanded asset governance tools for enterprises.
