Canva debuts Brand Trainer to fine-tune layout AI with brand kits

Brand Trainer ingests logos, palettes, typography rules, and a corpus of approved designs to produce a tailored layout model for each brand. Once trained, the model generates templates and automatic layout adjustments that align with brand constraints. Canva provides guardrails so generated designs do not stray from trademarked motifs or restricted asset use.

The product includes a validation dashboard showing which brand rules were applied and where the model deviated — useful for governance and creative review. Companies can retrain incrementally as brand guidelines evolve, and Canva supports exportable artifacts for use in other design tools.

Early customers in ecommerce and franchise marketing reported faster campaign rollouts and fewer compliance reviews. Designers still retain edit control, but they find the brand-aligned seed designs speed up iteration and handoff to external agencies.
