Canva introduces 'BrandGPT' to automate enterprise template scaling
Design · 4 min read
Canva's new BrandGPT helps marketing teams scale on-brand creative by generating templates that adhere to an uploaded brand kit. Users can specify campaign objectives—social, print, OOH—and BrandGPT outputs variants tuned to different aspect ratios, prescribed typography hierarchies, and approved color tokens. The model also provides a brand-compliance score for each generated asset.
BrandGPT integrates with Canva's team libraries, producing templates that can be locked down to prevent style drift. It also includes translation-aware layout adaptations for multilingual campaigns, automatically adjusting spacing and typographic scale when text length increases. Canva added an audit tool that scans existing team assets and suggests consolidations to reduce template sprawl.
Early adopters in retail and higher education noted dramatic reductions in production time for campaign rollouts. However, some in-house brand teams flagged concerns about nuanced editorial tone and suggested a review pipeline be mandatory. Canva plans to add more granular control for enterprise permissions and to expand connectors to DAM and marketing automation platforms.
