Canva launches 'Design Coach' using a 2B-parameter UI-focused model

Canva introduced Design Coach, a built-in assistant powered by a 2B-parameter model trained on millions of templates and style guides. It provides actionable suggestions: alternate layouts for a selected section, copy recommendations for headlines, and color palettes that meet contrast ratios.

Design Coach is tightly integrated with Canva's templates and brand kits; it preserves brand fonts and tokenized colors and offers a toggle for accessibility-first suggestions. Canva also added an undo-aware flow so designers can preview multiple variations without cluttering the edit history.

Marketers testing the feature reported faster iteration on social posts and ads, while seasoned designers appreciated the guardrails that prevented generic-looking outputs. Canva plans to expand Design Coach to support motion presets and multi-frame sequencing later this year.
