Canva rolls out AI-guided accessibility checker that auto-fixes contrast issues
Design · 3 min read
Canva introduced an accessibility assistant that detects color contrast violations, insufficient text size, and poor semantic grouping in layouts. The assistant offers one-click fixes — such as color swaps from the brand palette or font-size adjustments — and demonstrates the impact in a split-screen preview.
The assistant also provides contextual guidance for export targets (social, print, or web) with tailored recommendations. For teams using Canva brand kits, fixes respect locked brand tokens and will only suggest compliant alternatives within the brand constraints.
Canva reports that the new assistant reduced common accessibility issues in partner templates by roughly 70% during pilot testing. The company sees this as a way to make accessible design standard for non-designers and reduce post-handoff rework for professional teams.
