Canva unveils Brand Engine AI and raises $100M to deepen enterprise design automation

Brand Engine AI ingests brand guidelines, tone-of-voice assets, and visual tokens to generate on-brand social posts, presentation decks, and display ads. Canva positions the tool as a way for small marketing teams to scale content while staying within brand guardrails.
The $100 million strategic investment will support enterprise-grade compliance, single-sign-on integrations, and deeper platform APIs for DAM and CMS connections. Canva says the funds will also contribute to localized generative models for different markets.
Design leaders praised the potential time savings but raised questions about creative control and brand dilution. Canva responded with configurability controls, approval workflows, and watermarking options for generated assets.
