Canva updates vector editor with diffusion-based vectorization and smart curves

The new vectorization pipeline uses a diffusion-informed approach to infer clean vector paths from raster art. For designers, this means fewer manual fixes when converting logos or iconography into scalable assets. The editor also extracts color palettes as named tokens, offers automatic stroke simplification, and maintains layer semantics where possible.

Canva introduced a smart-curves tool that suggests bezier adjustments and snapping aligned to a brand's geometry. Users can lock vector assets to token-based color palettes and batch-export optimized SVGs for web and app usage.

The update is available to Pro users, with a limited trial for free accounts. Designers praised the improved conversion fidelity but asked for better control over node-level editing and improved support for hand-drawn strokes. Canva said enhancements are planned in the next quarterly release.
