Canva's 'BrandGPT' Model Generates System-Ready Design Tokens and Guidelines

Canva's BrandGPT helps small teams create consistent design systems by ingesting logos, a short brand brief and example images, then generating tokens for color, type, spacing, and accessible contrast. It also produces short brand guidelines and component suggestions tuned for Canva templates.

The system exports tokens in multiple formats (CSS variables, JSON, and Figma tokens) and can produce a starter component library for Canva’s editor. BrandGPT includes onboarding prompts to help non-designers make reasonable tradeoffs when customizing tokens.

Canva emphasized ease-of-use: the feature includes simple edit flows and versioned token rolls so teams can iterate without breaking existing designs. BrandGPT will be part of Canva Pro's higher tiers with scoped free trials for education users.
