CanvasAI raises $19M to bring accessible generative design to product engineering

CanvasAI’s tools generate lightweight geometries and lattice structures optimized for specified load profiles and manufacturing processes. The platform ties generative outputs to real-world constraints like tooling, material costs, and supplier capabilities.

The $19 million seed-plus round, led by Material Ventures, will be used to expand support for multiple CAD backends, add manufacturing feasibility scoring, and include supplier feedback loops that inform iteration.

Engineers upload functional requirements and manufacturing constraints; CanvasAI returns optimized geometries with tradeoff visualizations for weight, cost, and production time. Outputs are exportable as CAD-ready files and include recommended process parameters.

By grounding generative design in manufacturability, CanvasAI aims to increase adoption in regulated industries where proof of process and supplier alignment are essential. The company will run pilot programs with aerospace and medical device partners.
