Coda UX secures $18M to ship Collaborative Specs, a live spec tool for cross-functional teams

Collaborative Specs allows design teams to attach live components to spec documents so engineering receives exact component properties, accessibility attributes, and test scenarios. The tool can export mock requests and stub servers for QA to use in acceptance testing, streamlining the handoff from design to engineering.

The Series A, led by NorthStar Ventures, will fund deeper integrations (OpenAPI, CI/CD pipelines) and offline-first collaboration modes. Coda UX also plans to add role-based workflows so design teams can lock visual decisions while allowing engineers to propose performance-minded alternatives.

Early adopters praised the single source of truth approach, citing fewer misinterpretations and a drop in rework. Coda UX aims to position Collaborative Specs as the canonical artifact for delivery, reducing reliance on scattered documents and pinned Figma frames.
