CodeGuard Ships AI Pair-Programming Agent and Secures $40M Series A

CodeGuard’s agent runs locally or in a controlled cloud environment and hooks into popular IDEs. It offers context-aware suggestions, automated refactoring that preserves test coverage, and a change-explainability view that maps suggestions back to project history and tests.

Investors were attracted to CodeGuard’s emphasis on reproducibility: the agent signs suggested changes with a verifiable provenance record and can auto-generate unit and integration tests to accompany edits. Engineering leads can set rules for when the agent may push changes and when it must create a review request.

The Series A will fuel integrations with CI/CD systems, security scanning pipelines and enterprise SSO. Teams using CodeGuard in private betas reported measurable reductions in bug-introducing commits and faster onboarding for junior engineers.
