Cognia Labs Introduces SynthQuery for Natural Language Database Exploration

SynthQuery provides an interface for data consumers to ask questions in natural language and receive tables, charts, or SQL that analysts can refine. Unlike generic LLM-equipped layers, SynthQuery emphasizes query correctness and explainability by combining symbolic planners with grounding against live schema and instance data.

The product includes connectors to common warehouses, permission-aware results, and a suggested-safe mode that returns provenance of each record in answers. Cognia also offers a 'guided analyst' mode where suggestions include index hints and join strategies for engineers.

Cognia raised $18 million in a round led by DataBridge Partners. Proceeds will fund model engineering to reduce hallucinations, expand connectors, and build enterprise governance features for regulated industries.
