Cohere launches Atlas-Lite, a small layout model for design assistants
AI · 3 min read
Atlas-Lite uses a specialized transformer that reasons about spacing, alignment, and element hierarchy, returning JSON-structured layout proposals for integration with design editors. The model is tuned on annotated design tokens and heuristic rules from top design systems.
Because it’s lightweight, Atlas-Lite can be deployed on edge servers or within enterprise VPCs, letting teams receive layout recommendations with minimal latency. Cohere supplies SDKs to plug Atlas-Lite into Figma, Sketch, and proprietary editors.
Product designers reported the model handles common layout patterns very well but can struggle with very novel or experimental compositions. Cohere plans to release additional training pipelines for industry-specific templates like dashboards and forms.
