Cohere reveals 'Atlas' API for semantic design search and style-match retrieval

Atlas combines vector search tuned for visual-semantic alignment with metadata-aware re-ranking. Design teams can search by concept ("clean dashboard cards") and receive results ranked by visual style match, not just tag overlap. The API supports embeddings for images, SVGs and textual component descriptions.

Cohere showcased a Figma integration that indexes a team’s components and surfaces visually similar elements when designers drag a new asset into a canvas. Atlas also supports semantic diffs for design reviews, helping reviewers spot style drift over time.

Enterprise features include incremental indexing, role-based access, and an audit trail for content provenance. Cohere is offering usage tiers based on documents indexed and query volume, with special pricing for academic and open-source projects.
