The redesign also added resilient invitations that stayed in a dedicated tray for 15 minutes, allowing players to respond even after briefly switching apps. To handle edge cases like NAT issues or full lobbies, the team surfaced fallback actions such as 'watch mode' or 'request a slot', reducing failed join attempts. User testing with 200 active players showed the new flow reduced join time by 45% and increased successful joins by 23%.

Technically, the team balanced real-time websockets for presence with batched polling to conserve battery on mobile devices. The product roadmap now includes richer telemetry for social features and an overhaul of friend-search filters based on the patterns discovered during the study.
