Contour raises $5M to automate product photography with AI-driven lighting rigs

Contour’s system combines a robotic lighting rig, turntable, and an AI module that chooses optimal light positions and camera settings for consistent, brand-aligned product images. The company targets direct-to-consumer brands and marketplaces seeking to scale visual content production.
The AI analyzes object geometry and material properties to generate lighting recipes, reducing trial-and-error and post-production. Contour also offers integration with DAMs and e-commerce platforms for automated asset ingestion.
A $5 million seed round led by Lux Capital will help Contour finalize commercial hardware, expand its on-site service teams, and build remote control tooling for distributed photo studios. The company will offer both subscription hardware-as-a-service and one-time purchase options.
Product teams appreciated faster throughput and predictable visual outcomes, especially for complex reflective items. Contour plans to add fabric drape simulation and automated retouching plugins later this year.
